12 farmer’s markets in the offing in Pune
PUNE: The state agriculture marketing board has approached the civic body to establish more farmers’ markets across the city’s residential areas to extend direct sale of vegetables and fruits. The markets will be held on a weekly basis.
The board is looking for 10 to 12 prime spots in an effort to assist farmers sell their produce without middlemen. While preliminary discussions have already been initiated, the marketing board now expects Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to identify the locations and provide basic infrastructure to ensure smooth functioning of the markets.
