5 groups of Bijnor farmers to learn organic farming under national scheme

BIJNOR: In three years’ time, five groups of 185 farmers each will begin supplying organic agricultural produce in the district. These farmers have been selected under the national organic farming programme under which they will be provided with organic seeds and imparted special training from sowing of seed to marketing of product, according to officials at the Uttar Pradesh agriculture department,
The officials said Rs 70 lakh have been approved for the project by the Uttar Pradesh government for Bijnor district. “The organic seeds will be provided to farmers next year,” said deputy director of agriculture Jaspal Singh. “This year, farmers will adopt organic methods in paddy farming,” the official said. Normal seeds will be used this time.
