Kerala Jaivakarshaka Samiti (Kerala Organic Farmers’ Association) is an organization that has been working for the last 23 years with the vision of making Kerala shift to organic farming. Kerala Jaiva Karshaka Samiti studies various issues faced by farmers and, promotes organic farming – which lays emphasis on environment protection – as the only viable alternative to the practice of chemical farming which make our soil, water and food toxic.

We understand the root of Kerala’s problems to be our withdrawal from growing our own food. Despite being a land blessed with ample sunshine and water, we import foodstuffs worth around rupees ten thousand crore annually. Eating this toxic food contaminated with chemical pesticides is making the Malayali chronically ill.

This situation must change. We must come forward to grow our food making use of every bit of cultivable land, without leaving an inch fallow. In order to take this message to the public, Kerala Jaiva Karshaka Samiti is organizing a state level vehicle rally from 5th to 24th April 2015. “A New Kerala through Food Crops” is the main slogan of the rally, titled “Jaivajeevitha Sandesha Jaatha” (Message of Organic Living). The Jaatha aims to convey to people in the villages as well as in the towns, the benefits of locally and organically growing as much of our food as possible, through pamphlets relating to agriculture, food and health; posters, street plays, traditional art forms, documentaries etc.  Along with this there will be an exhibition and sale of traditional seeds.

We request you to kindly enrich our programme with your esteemed presence by joining the rally at convenient points.
