Agriculture has become a polluting industry: Expert

Organic farming can feed a country as diverse and huge as India. Twenty five years of research by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture, Switzerland, and 10 years of research by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) have data that show that sustainable yields can be obtained without agrochemicals.

A former principal scientist with the ICRISAT and a World Bank consultant on sustainable agriculture, Dr Om Prakash Rupela stated this while talking to TNS here today.
