Raipur, July 24: Out of 640 Krishi Vigyaan Kendra (KVK) across India, tribal Dantewada based KVK of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University received the best KVK award by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. For this achievement chief minister Dr Raman Singh and state agriculture minister Brijmohan Agrawal congratulated the agriculture scientists and officers-employees of the KVK Dantewada on Saturday.
Meanwhile, KVK of Kanker district has been awarded Atal Rashtriya Krishi Vignan Protsahan Puraskar. Minister Brijmohan Agrawal met Indira Gandhi Agriculture University vice-chancellor Dr S K Patil and representatives of the two KVKs to congratulate the officials on this spectacular developments. Agrawal said, Both the districts Dantewada and Kanker are infamous as Naxalites-affected.
Efforts put in by the authorities are bearing fruits in the form of awards. Farmers are benefitting with the research work done at the Raipur Agriculture University. Bastar will change for the better, soon, he said. There is a craving for development in the region. All the districts in Bastar region will race ahead in agriculture in the years ahead. Dantewada will become a role model in the entire country in the field of organic farming.
