We would like to invite you and your family to take part in a week without GMO foods between Sept.29 & Oct. 5. Over the course of this week, whether shopping for food, eating at home, or going out for meals, we plan to consume only those foods that are free of genetically modified organisms. To help all of us understand this, we have prepared a short Q&A.
This event spans Oct 2nd, the birthday anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who sought independence from imperialism. Through this event, we hope to take a step towards eating natural and healthy and assert our independence in our choice of food. As Gandhiji said, “As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves”.
What is GMO Free Week?
The GMO Free Week is a period of one week from Sept. 29th through Oct. 5th, when we want to avoid eating any food that contains GMOs.
Through the GMO Free Week, we would like to find out if it is possible to eat naturally occurring food varieties only. We wish to use this event as a show of support to independent, small and traditional farmers and let them know there are consumers who are interested in eating natural food.
There is no fixed venue – it will be part of our daily routine for that week.
We hope you find this helpful and join us in this event. Be sure to invite your friends.
