Government will not take final call on GM mustard without due process
New Delhi, Feb 6: The government on Thursday assured that the commercial release of the genetically modified mustard will not be approved without due process. The agitating activists were promised that it would hold consultations with them before taking any decision.
The central regulator on transgenic crops, Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC), did not take any decision on commercial release of the genetically engineered variety of the oilseed. Though, it did deliberate upon safety aspects of the GM mustard.
