How India is Adapting Worldwide Dietary Guidelines for its Diverse Citizens
India, April 22: The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has long served as America’s nutritional expert, issuing information on healthy eating and the nutritional benefits of food groups.
The USDA periodically updates these guidelines as new information about food becomes available. Sometimes, changes occur because previously held notions about foods are shown to be incorrect. At other times, nutritional data is updated because a food group was researched and proven to have either more or fewer benefits than previously reported. As a result of all of this “food rethinking” and continual new scientific information about nutrition, the USDA has revised and updated its nutritional guidelines numerous times over the years.
