India: their own organic Seed instead of Seed Dependence

Over 500 organic farmers in the federal state of Gujarat, that borders Pakistan in the west of India, are endeavouring to create their own seed banks in order to resist the pressure of genetically modified seed.

“The farmers are developing seed banks as a way of opposing the use of GM seed,“ says Sarvdaman Patel, the president of the Organic Farmers Association of India (OFAI).
