Promoting organic farming through art

Nov 29, 2016- Japanese artist Setsu Suzukis solo installation art exhibition, titled Taauye (which translates to paddy plantation in English), has concluded on Monday, in Harnamaadi, Hetauda. The three-day exhibit was organised jointly by Harnamaadi Art Council and Kathmandu-based Srijana College of Arts.

During the event, Suzukis artworks were installed in actual paddy fields, in about 2 bighas.

Speaking to the Post, artist Suzuki said, I am very happy that my work, after being exhibited in countries like Bangladesh, India and Indonesia, have finally travelled to Nepal.

Artist Laxman Bhujel, who attended the exhibition, said, The exhibit aims to encourage people continue pursuing farming as an occupation. The exhibit also draws attention to the increasing use of chemical fertilisers and promotes organic farming.
