State’s first cotton pre-cleaning unit at Malout

MUKTSAR: Punjab’s first cotton pre-cleaning plant has been set up at the cost of Rs 2 crore at Malout in Muktsar district. Muktsar deputy commissioner Jaskiran Singh said, “The pre-cleaning facility will be provided to cotton growers at nominal cost. Malout market committee has started the cleaning process on experimental basis and the facility will be thrown open to the farmers in about a week. It has the capacity of cleaning 6 tonnes of cotton per hour.” He said the unit had six machines that cleaned cotton in turns.
