Distressed farmers destroy sugarcane crop in Karnataka

Mandya, July 7, 2015 Two distressed sugarcane growers in the district destroyed their standing crop on Monday, as the sugar mills were delaying buying their produce. While Kulle Gowda set his sugarcane crop ablaze at Bevinahalli on the outskirts of Mandya, Umesh destroyed his crop using a tractor at Uppinakere in Maddur taluk.

Debt drives one more farmer to suicide

BELAGAVI, July 7, 2015 Vijaykumar Patil One more debt-ridden farmer, Parasappa Yallappa Sampagavi (35), committed suicide by consuming pesticide at his native Ganeshwadi in Gokak, which is also the home taluk of Small Scale Industries and district in-charge Minister Satish L.
